Chlordet in Namibia

Chlordet 110 is Cernol’s chlorinated general-purpose cleaner for the food industry — a powder that cleans and sanitizes in one pass. It washes butchery equipment and floors, scrubs out cool trucks between loads, and handles food-plant washdown where a detergent alone would leave the bacteria behind.

Chlordet: your questions answered

What makes Chlordet 110 different from an ordinary cleaning powder?

The chlorine. An ordinary alkaline powder removes visible soil; Chlordet 110 pairs the detergent action with active chlorine, so the surface is sanitized as it is cleaned. In a butchery or cool truck that halves the work: one scrub covers both the cleaning and the kill step for routine use. For formal food-plant cycles it slots in as the cleaning stage, with a dedicated sanitizer (Sypo, Tetramine 2008) as the terminal step.

Why is Chlordet 110 specified for cool trucks?

A refrigerated body carries food, condensation and closed-in air — a mould and bacteria incubator on wheels. The transporters segmentation lists Chlordet 110 for cool trucks precisely because a plain truckwash detergent leaves the microbiology untouched. Wash the interior with Chlordet 110 solution, rinse thoroughly and dry before reloading, and the load area passes inspection instead of smelling like it needs one.

What precautions apply to a chlorinated powder?

Store it dry and sealed — moisture releases the chlorine slowly and weakens the product. Never combine it with acids (including descalers and Bowl Cleanse) because chlorine gas can form, and don’t premix it with other cleaners. Use warm, not hot, solution water: very hot water drives chlorine off before it works. Rinse food-contact surfaces after the specified contact time per your hygiene plan.

Is one Chlordet product enough for a whole food plant?

For routine floors and equipment washdown, often yes — that is its design point. But a full plant hygiene programme still needs the specialists around it: alkaline chemistry for lines and tanks (PSP Powder, Klenz 12), acid cleaning for milkstone and scale (Acidet, Hydrosan), terminal sanitizers on rotation, and the hand-hygiene layer. Cernol maps the full cycle onto your plant when you request a quote — one factory, one delivery, every step covered.
