Vehicle, Truck & Fleet Wash for Transport & Logistics in Namibia

A Namibian linehaul rig comes off the B1 wearing road film, diesel soot and a coat of red dust that a garden-hose wash only rearranges. Cernol blends the wash-bay chemistry transport depots actually dose by the drum — GPL Detergent for the bodies, Magnus 88XL at 1:19 for the rims — at the Windhoek factory most fleets pass weekly.

The local problems this range solves

  • Corridor dust bonded to bodywork by dew and heat cycles
  • Aluminium rims and tanker barrels oxidising dull on gravel routes
  • Cool-truck load bodies needing sanitizing, not just washing, between food loads
  • Wash-bay runoff compliance with municipal trade-effluent rules
  • Sail and tarpaulin grime that ordinary detergent leaves grey

Compliance & documentation

Wash-log documentation for food-carrying bodies and trade-effluent compliance for the bay itself are the two audit points; Cernol supplies product data for both.

Local tip

Fleets running Windhoek legs collect drums from our Northern Industrial Area factory as backloads — wash chemistry at zero freight is a habit worth building into the route plan.

Vehicle & Fleet Wash for transport & logistics: asked and answered

How often should a linehaul fleet actually wash trucks?

Weekly body washes with GPL Detergent keep film from bonding, with rim treatment (Magnus 88XL at 1:19) every second or third wash rather than every wash — acid brightening is corrective, not routine. Trucks running the salt-fog coastal leg to Walvis Bay should be rinsed after each rotation even if a full wash must wait, because salt sitting on paint and connectors does more damage than a fortnight of dust.

What is the correct way to wash a refrigerated body between food loads?

Use Chlordet 110 rather than the body-wash detergent: the chlorinated powder cleans and sanitizes the load space in one pass, which is what food consignors increasingly ask to see on the wash log. Wash walls and floor, pay attention to door seals and drain channels, rinse thoroughly and leave doors open to dry before pre-cooling. A plain GPL wash leaves the microbiology untouched and the smell tells the next loader exactly that.

Can sails and tarpaulins be cleaned without damaging them?

Yes — the segmentation sheet assigns Magnus 215 to sails for good reason: it cuts the grey diesel-and-dust film that ordinary truckwash leaves in the weave. Work on a spread tarp at the listed dilution, brush, and rinse before it dries. Keep Magnus 215 strictly off aluminium bodies and fittings while you work — it attacks soft metals, which is also why it is the sail product and not the rim product.

What keeps wash-bay effluent legal in Namibian municipalities?

A bunded bay with a silt-and-oil trap, dosed housekeeping (Bowl Cleanse on the grids, absorbents on drips before they reach water), and detergents at correct dilution rather than “more is better” overdosing. Municipal trade-effluent enforcement is tightening in Windhoek and Walvis Bay; a bay running biodegradable-majority Cernol chemistry at spec dilution passes sampling that an overdosed imported product may not. We can advise on the chemical side of your bay setup when quoting.
