Vecom B80 Aircooler Cleaner
VecomIndustrialCleaner for diesel engines charged with air coolers — restores charge-air cooler heat transfer in service.
Available in25 L
Available from: Windhoek & Walvis Bay agent
The boat side of the fishing segmentation sheet reads like a chief engineer’s consumables list: Vecom B80 for the air coolers, Chemicide No 7 in the diesel tanks, Phoskleen on rust before paint, CCW 5 in the cooling circuits. Cernol supplies the whole engine-room shelf through its Walvis Bay agent, with quayside delivery by arrangement.
MARPOL-adjacent discipline applies afloat: OSE 750 and absorbents aboard for spills, and oil overboard treated as the offence it is.
Give the Walvis Bay agent your sailing date with the order — quayside delivery is arranged against the schedule, and the agent holds the fleet’s fast movers (B80, Chemicide No 7) as standing stock.
The lines fishing & marine buyers draw from this category most.

When the log shows the trend: charge-air temperature creeping up and boost pressure sagging against the baseline. Vecom B80 dosed at that point restores heat transfer in service — no cooler removal, no yard time. Erongo boats working hard through the season typically settle into a treatment rhythm per engine-hours once the first two treatments show the fouling rate. Waiting for the exhaust-temperature alarm means the fuel bill already paid for the neglect.
Dose Chemicide No 7 before the lay-up, not after it: the microbial mat grows at the fuel-water interface while the boat sits, fed by condensation from harbour temperature swings, and a season’s standing produces enough sludge to blind filters on the first hard steam. Dose, run the transfer pump briefly to distribute, and change filters after the first post-layup trip because the killed growth still travels. The sheet lists it flatly as “Diesel tanks (Boats)” — it is that standard.
It is the step between grinding and painting — the sheet says it precisely: “remove rust on the boats, acts as a primer before spraypainting the boat.” Mechanical prep takes the scale off; Phoskleen converts and conditions what sits in the pits, leaving a surface paint actually keys to. Skip it and the Benguela’s salt fog finds the untreated pitting within a season, and the paint job fails from underneath. Rinse and dry per label before coating.
OSE 750 and an absorbent, always aboard: the dispersant handles residual film on plates and contained bilge situations where dispersal is appropriate and legal, and Peat D or Vermiculite takes up the drips and small spills before they travel. Oil overboard is an offence with a harbour full of witnesses — the kit that prevents the incident costs less than the smallest consequence of having one. Keep it stowed where the engine room can reach it one-handed.
